Hadjar Injured, Red Bull Calls Up Liam Lawson for Dutch GP

Red Bull Racing has confirmed that Liam Lawson will replace the injured Isack Hadjar at this weekend's Dutch Grand Prix. Hadjar sustained a wrist injury during a gym session in the summer shutdown, ruling him out of Zandvoort.

The news broke on Wednesday morning and immediately reshaped the grid. For Hadjar, it's a heavy blow. Zandvoort is the circuit where he scored his first F1 podium, finishing third for Racing Bulls in his impressive rookie season in 2025.

"Oracle Red Bull Racing driver, Isack Hadjar, has sustained a wrist injury during summer shutdown that will prevent him from racing at the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix," the team's official statement read. "We will be welcoming back Liam Lawson who will replace him in RB22 this weekend. The team wishes Isack a speedy recovery and thanks Liam for stepping in on short notice."

This is not Lawson's first time in the Red Bull seat. He previously partnered Max Verstappen for the first two rounds of 2025 before being demoted back to Racing Bulls. Now, the 24-year-old returns more mature and has impressed with the sister squad this season. Lawson sits ninth in the standings after 11 rounds, scoring points in all but three races.

As a result of this change, reserve driver Yuki Tsunoda will race for Racing Bulls at Zandvoort alongside Arvid Lindblad. Tsunoda struggled alongside Verstappen in 2025 but now gets another chance before the Dutch GP drops off the calendar.
