Isack Hadjar's participation in the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort is in doubt after a wrist injury sustained during a gym session ahead of the race weekend. The Red Bull Racing driver could be forced to sit out the race, with the team already preparing a contingency plan.
According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, if Hadjar is unable to race, Liam Lawson will be promoted from Racing Bulls to the senior Red Bull team. This would be a second chance for Lawson, who was demoted earlier last year ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix. Lawson has been in strong form, sitting ninth in the championship standings, the best of the rest behind F1's top four teams.
Red Bull can still wait before making a final decision, but the team's priority is Hadjar's recovery, aiming for him to be fit for the Monza race in two weeks. If Lawson moves up, Yuki Tsunoda would fill the Racing Bulls seat alongside Arvid Lindblad.
Hadjar had designed a special helmet for the Dutch GP, with a Delft Blue theme referencing his first podium at Zandvoort last year, where he broke his trophy. However, that moment is now in jeopardy. For Lawson, a potential appearance at Zandvoort would be a reward for his consistent season, having scored points at almost every race.
Tsunoda, now the reserve driver for both Red Bull teams, would also make an F1 return if this scenario unfolds. He lost his race seat at the end of last year and has been linked with an IndyCar seat at Meyer Shank Racing for 2027.
