Gasly Reveals 'Quite Important' Target Ahead of Alpine F1 Upgrade Debut TO NEWS OVERVIEW
Pierre Gasly is hopeful upgrades, set for Monza but brought to Zandvoort this weekend, bring Alpine a much-needed boost

Pierre Gasly has revealed a 'quite important' target ahead of the debut of Alpine's upgraded A526 at this weekend's Dutch Grand Prix. The Frenchman hopes the new package will deliver a much-needed jump in performance after a worrying slump.

Alpine initially looked capable of fighting in the midfield, but their competitiveness has dipped sharply in recent months. Gasly has repeatedly voiced his frustration over the lack of pace, both in qualifying and race trim.

At the Hungarian Grand Prix, he was left disappointed after qualifying 12th and finishing the race in the same position. Despite that, he insists he still believes Alpine can 'take the fight'. "I'm a competitive person. I work really hard to be competitive. And yeah, it's fair to say I was disappointed and a bit frustrated towards the end of the first part of the season," he told media, including Motorsport Week.

"I think it's more seeing us slowly drag away from the top 10. But at the same time, we always knew it was going to be a development race and we've got to trust in our process. And I still believe we can take the fight," he added.

Gasly's Target and Hope for the Second Half

Currently, Gasly sits tenth in the Drivers' Standings with 42 points, having consistently outperformed teammate Franco Colapinto. But in the cutthroat world of F1, beating your teammate isn't enough. Gasly is hungry for more points and podiums.

"So as I say, it's going to be important to have the performance with this new package. I'm feeling good. We still have plenty of races to score points. It's not the first time we're facing this situation. There are going to be plenty more opportunities to score big points. I still remember '24 and what happened in Brazil. You know, until the last race, everything's possible," Gasly explained.

He referred back to the 2024 season, when the Sao Paulo Grand Prix was a highlight. In that chaotic wet race, Max Verstappen took a stunning win from P17, and shockingly, Alpine secured a double podium with Gasly and Esteban Ocon. It was a moment to remember.

Keeping that 'everything is possible' mentality could prove fruitful for Gasly as the season resumes. With the new upgrade, his target is clear: get back into the fight and maximize every opportunity.
