Faced with an unusual race weekend at the Sepang International Circuit, the FIA acted swiftly to address drivers' safety concerns regarding the pit-entry procedure overnight before final practice.
The controversy centered on the initial placement of the pit-entry bollard at the outer edge of the final corner, Turn 15. Under the Race Director's strict notes, any driver running wide to the right of the marker was officially deemed to have entered the pit lane and was forced to drive through it.
This layout triggered immediate drama during Friday practice. RB driver Liam Lawson and Valtteri Bottas both collected black-and-white flags in FP1, followed by Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli in FP2, while teammate George Russell safely complied after running wide.

The looming threat of race-ruining penalties during wheel-to-wheel battles prompted urgent discussions in the paddock. Consequently, officials revised the notes and repositioned the bollard further back to give drivers a safer margin.
