FIA Investigates Hamilton After Bortoleto Block in FP2

Lewis Hamilton is under investigation by the FIA following an incident involving Gabriel Bortoleto during FP2 for the Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia.

The incident occurred when Hamilton, on a cooldown lap, was on the racing line and appeared to block Audi's Bortoleto. Replays showed Hamilton glancing at his right mirror as the Brazilian approached at speed, but he continued to turn in the same direction as the Audi. This forced Bortoleto to take avoiding action, including riding the curb before switching to pass on the inside.

Bortoleto was far from impressed, venting his frustration over team radio: "What the f*** is this guy doing!" Meanwhile, Hamilton attempted to explain the situation over the radio, citing an issue with his right mirror. "I can't see through my right mirror, so keep me up to date," he said.

The FIA has summoned Bortoleto to give evidence to the stewards at 17:30 local time. However, no official statement has been made regarding potential sanctions for Hamilton. This is not the first time Hamilton has been involved in a similar incident in recent races, which is a cause for concern for both the team and race officials.

The impact of this incident could affect Hamilton and Ferrari's preparations for qualifying and the race. A visibility issue with the mirror can be a serious technical problem, especially at a demanding circuit like Sepang. Ferrari is expected to address the issue promptly to ensure Hamilton can perform at his best.

The investigation is ongoing. The stewards' decision will determine whether Hamilton receives a penalty. Fans are eagerly awaiting the outcome, as this incident could influence the competition at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
