Fermin Aldeguer has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2026 Dutch MotoGP after suffering an injury in a high-speed crash during Friday's Practice session at TT Circuit Assen.

Gresini Racing confirmed that Aldeguer sustained a fracture to the T7 vertebra. Following medical examinations, MotoGP Medical Centre director Angel Charte declared the Spanish rider unfit to continue the Assen weekend.

Further assessment of the injury will take place over the coming days. The setback adds to an already difficult campaign for Aldeguer, who also missed the entire pre-season and the opening round after breaking his femur earlier this year.

"Following a medical review, Fermin Aldeguer has been declared unfit by the director of the medical centre, Angel Charte. He has suffered a fracture to the T7 vertebrae, which will be assessed over the next few days," Gresini Racing said.

Team-mate Alex Marquez was also involved in a heavy Practice crash that triggered a late red flag. Although he required assistance from the marshals after the incident, the Spaniard later said he had escaped with only minor injuries and will undergo another medical assessment before FP2.

Aldeguer's withdrawal represents another setback for Gresini Racing during a demanding stage of the MotoGP season. The team will now await updates on both riders, with a final decision on Alex Marquez's participation expected ahead of Saturday's running.
