Brodie Feeney emerged victorious in the Sprint Cup after winning the decider at the Ipswich Super440, while Matthew Payne's hopes of claiming the regular season title were dashed by an engine failure.

Payne held a 110-point lead over Brodie Feeney going into the final race and looked set to secure the title until his engine gave up mid-race. The Grove Racing driver suspected an electrical issue with his #19 Ford Mustang.

This win hands Feeney a 25-point bonus for the first round of the Finals Series, which kicks off at the Gold Coast 500.

The race started with a tense side-by-side battle between Triple Eight teammates Feeney and Will Brown through the first two corners. Feeney swept around Brown's outside to take the lead at Turn 3.

Kai Allen was the first of the top 10 to pit from third at the end of Lap 16, with Rylan Gray and Ryan Wood also pitting. Brown responded a lap later, trailing Feeney by three seconds, who ran long until Lap 21 before pitting and rejoining just over a second ahead of Brown.

Midway through the pit cycle, Chaz Mostert's Toyota Supra suddenly slowed and crawled into pit lane, with attention immediately turning to the car that had received a B-spec engine on the eve of the weekend. Brodie Kostecki then made a move on Allen for third at Turn 3 on Lap 31.

More drama unfolded on Lap 32 when Payne reported a loss of power and pulled into the pits, plummeting down the order. Kostecki continued his charge, passing Brown for second on Lap 33. Another incident on Lap 36 saw Jayden Ojeda spin after attempting a lunge on Andre Heimgartner, making contact with the BJR Supra.

The second round of pit stops began on Lap 41, with Feeney opting to run long and expressing frustration as he got caught among other cars on fresher tyres. After his final stop, Feeney held a slim lead over Kostecki, who pushed hard but ultimately settled for second. Brown finished third.
