Fabio Quartararo Amazed by Jack Miller’s Sachsenring Lap

Fabio Quartararo admitted he was amazed by Jack Miller’s lap in German MotoGP Practice after the Pramac rider surged to fifth at the Sachsenring.

Quartararo was only the second-fastest Yamaha rider in 15th. Miller finished 10 positions ahead and secured direct entry into Q2 after placing ahead of the two Aprilia riders leading the championship fight.

“I was really impressed by Jack’s lap time because, honestly, the 1m20.2s I did was a really fast lap, but I was still four tenths behind Jack,” Quartararo said.

The factory Yamaha rider said his race pace was stronger than expected. However, his time-attack performance fell below expectations because he struggled to generate grip while attempting a flying lap.

Quartararo insisted the track conditions were not responsible for the problem. He said he slid from Turn 4 through Turn 7 without regaining grip, costing him significant time over a single lap.

Miller’s lap will now serve as the main reference for Quartararo and his crew as they analyse differences in riding technique and motorcycle set-up. The comparison is particularly valuable because both riders use the same Yamaha package but were separated by approximately four tenths of a second.

Miller’s performance showed that Yamaha can still be competitive around the Sachsenring’s tight and twisting layout, while Quartararo’s difficulties underlined its continuing grip inconsistency. Quartararo must find an improvement before Q1 to have a chance of joining Miller in Q2.
