Kimi Antonelli has extended his lead in the 2026 Formula 1 drivers’ championship following victory at the Miami Grand Prix, reinforcing his position at the top after the opening four rounds.
The Mercedes driver becomes the first to surpass the 100-point mark this season, increasing the gap to team-mate George Russell. Antonelli’s consistency across both sprint and main race formats has been central to building his early championship advantage.
Behind the Mercedes pair, Charles Leclerc lost ground after a difficult result in Miami, allowing McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri to close the gap in the fight for top positions.

In the constructors’ standings, Mercedes has strengthened its lead through consistent results from both drivers. This advantage is increasingly significant in the context of long-term competition against rivals such as Ferrari and McLaren.
The midfield battle also saw notable developments, with points scored by Franco Colapinto for Alpine, alongside contributions from Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon, keeping Williams competitive.
With a long season ahead, the standings remain fluid, but early performance trends are beginning to define the competitive landscape. Consistency, race strategy, and technical development will be decisive factors heading into the next rounds of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
