Enea Bastianini believes he has made the right decision about his MotoGP future, with his time at Tech3 KTM appearing set to end after the 2026 season.

Red Bull KTM Tech3 has not yet confirmed its rider line-up for 2027. However, several names have been linked with the team, including Luca Marini, who remained tight-lipped about his future when speaking to the media at Sachsenring ahead of the German Grand Prix.

Bastianini is widely thought to be outside KTM's 2027 plans after the deadline for the Austrian manufacturer to take up an option on his contract for another year expired. That situation has made the Italian's next move one of the key rider market storylines ahead of the new 850cc regulation era.

A move to Trackhouse Aprilia is anticipated for Bastianini, with the team set to lose Ai Ogura to Yamaha at the end of this season. However, Bastianini made clear he is not yet able to discuss the details of the decision he has already taken.

“Yes, well, I made my decision many times ago and that is clear, but I cannot speak about it,” Bastianini told the media ahead of the German MotoGP.

Asked whether he could at least confirm that his 2027 deal was done, even without naming the team or manufacturer, Bastianini again held back.

“I cannot say that, but I made a good decision,” he replied.

Bastianini's immediate focus now shifts to the German Grand Prix at Sachsenring, a circuit he does not rank among his favourites. His best result there is third place from his Moto3 career, while in the premier class he has not reached the podium, with fourth in 2024 his strongest result.

“Well, I missed the race last year after a problem from the chicken [food poisoning] and it's been, well, curious,” Bastianini said.

“But in any case, this track is very strange and, to be honest, I don't like it a lot. I missed something – I don't like it a lot. But for the rest, it's like always, we need to be competitive and starting well from Friday.”

Bastianini arrives at Sachsenring with a more positive recent trend after fighting close to the top five at Assen. Maintaining that level will be important before MotoGP enters the summer break and before his 2027 future is officially clarified.

“We're coming from a positive trend, also in Assen we fight very close to the top-five,” Bastianini said.

“I hope to see me more or less in the same position from that race because it will be important after the summer break.”
