Unbelievable drama unfolded at the season finale as Elfyn Evans clinched the world rally championship in the most dramatic fashion possible. The title fight looked all but decided in favor of his teammate until a shocking mistake altered history just a few hundred meters from the finish line.
Oliver Solberg was comfortably ahead on time and firmly on course to claim the championship crown before committing a costly error during the dying moments of the Power Stage.
Although Solberg managed to get his car moving again, the time loss proved disastrous. He plummeted 14.5 seconds off the pace, missing out entirely on Power Stage points and surrendering the Super Sunday victory.

"I was pretty sure I wasn't the champion. Of course, I also feel bad for Oliver because he lost everything so close to the end," Evans admitted after securing the championship title despite finishing second on the day.
Further down the order, Toyota driver Sami Pajari wrapped up a stellar campaign by taking third place in both the season-ending rally and the final WRC standings.
