TO NEWS OVERVIEW
The PremiAir Racing Chevrolet Camaro of Nash Morris was spun on lap one of the Bathurst 1000.

The tension immediately reached its peak as the lights went out for the 2026 Repco Bathurst 1000 at the legendary Mount Panorama circuit. Drama unfolded instantly at the narrow climbing section known as The Cutting on the opening lap when the Chevrolet Camaro driven by Nash Morris found itself caught in a multi-car squeeze.

The incident saw the Garry Rogers Motorsport Camaro of James Moffat sandwiched directly between the PremiAir Racing entry of Morris and the Dick Johnson Racing Ford Mustang piloted by Tony D’Alberto, creating instant chaos in the tight mountain section.

As a result of the fierce contact, Morris suffered a half-spin across the tarmac, while Moffat sustained a right-front puncture alongside heavy damage to his steering assembly. Moffat was forced into an early pit lane visit, instantly dropping a lap down from the leading pack.

The atmosphere at the circuit shifted to a poignant one on Lap 5 as grandstands and fans saluted the field in unison. The emotional tribute honored the legendary Peter Brock on the 20th anniversary of his passing, uniting the entire motorsport community.

Trouble had already struck even before the race officially commenced for the Triple Eight Ford Mustang lineup of Jackson Walls and Jack Perkins. The car was forced to limp into pit lane prior to the start due to lingering power steering gremlins.

Within the opening ten laps of the race, car #11 was forced to return to the pit lane once again as the team frantically tried to remedy the persistent steering issues and salvage their race weekend.
