Lochie Dalton secured a brilliant victory in Race 1 of the Dunlop Super2 Series at Mount Panorama after capitalizing on crucial moments following a Safety Car restart. Starting from second on the grid, the talented driver launched a decisive move to seize the lead from his rival, controlling the race amidst high drama and early collisions.

The race instantly delivered fierce drama within the opening hundred meters as Tickford Autosport teammates clashed heavily. Ben Gomersall drifted across the nose of his teammate Reuben Goodall, resulting in interlocking wheels that sent Goodall careening into the wall while Gomersall spun into the Hell Corner gravel trap, instantly bringing out the Safety Car.

“Everyone got a pretty average start,” said Goodall reflecting on the chaotic opening moments. “I got a good start and definitely had the right to be on the outside. Unfortunately Benny changes his line into Turn 1 and just tried to open up the corner, which I understand, but I can’t just disappear.”

Goodall further admitted that the costly crash likely spells the end of his title aspirations. “It’s really disappointing. I’m going to watch Lochie win another race. It’s a hard championship when you get a guy like that so fast and keep coming together with your teammates. It’s like fighting a losing battle. Obviously a little bit emotional. It’s probably the end of our championship hunt,” he added.

Once racing resumed with 25 minutes remaining on the clock, Lochie Dalton wasted no time pouncing on race leader Aaron Sweeny into Hell Corner. Dalton immediately established a commanding one-second gap by the end of the restart lap, maintaining control at the front of the field all the way to the chequered flag.
