Ahead of a crucial race weekend at the Mandalika Circuit, Gigi Dall'Igna as the General Manager of Ducati Corse has firmly stated that the tyre allocation provided by Michelin offers no unfair advantages to any specific manufacturer in the ongoing MotoGP world championship showdown. The intense battle between Borgo Panigale and Aprilia remains the central talking point in the paddock following a stunning second-half recovery this season.

The current championship fight brings a unique emotional landscape for Dall'Igna, given his extensive background with the Noale-based factory. "It is a strange feeling to battle against Aprilia, which represents my past. But it is also strange to fight against their riders, Jorge and Marco, who raced with Ducati in previous years," Dall'Igna said during a joint press conference with Massimo Rivola. "It is curious. I have many friends in Aprilia, and if someone has to beat us, it is preferable that friends do it."

Ducati's journey to the top of the standings was far from straightforward, particularly given their rivals' early-season advantage. The relentless drive shown by Marc Marquez proved instrumental in keeping the squad's championship aspirations alive. "Our rivals were so far ahead at Mugello that it was difficult to think we could fight for the title, but it is our job to believe in it until the end and Marc pushed us hard, more than anyone else, because he always believed in it. And here we are," the Italian engineer reflected.

Assessing the competitive balance in Indonesia, Dall'Igna expects a fierce contest as the points gap narrows down significantly. "Every GP is different, but this one is more complicated because we are very close in the standings, we have won several races recently, but our rivals are very fast and it was not easy to arrive tied at the end," he explained regarding the tense atmosphere in the title race.

Commenting on the technical regulations and the newly formalized double-qualifying format, Dall'Igna believes the adjustments serve the championship well. "The new double-qualification format is a good compromise between eleven teams and five manufacturers, but it is good for the show," he concluded, adding that the upcoming 2027 engine regulations prioritize rider safety by successfully curbing extreme straight-line speeds.
