Kenzo Craigie closed out the Formula Regional Europe (FREC) post-season test with the fastest overall time, but Scott Lindblom put up a fierce fight in the afternoon session. The Mercedes-AMG F1 junior clocked 1m25.066s in the morning, while Van Amersfoort Racing's Lindblom led the afternoon with 1m26.025s.
The morning session belonged to Craigie and his R-ace GP teammate Oleksandr Bondarev. Craigie was the first to dip below 1m26s after 18 minutes, before Bondarev took over at the top. Over the next half-hour, times tumbled as the MP Motorsport trio of Dries Van Langendonck, Rocco Coronel, and Kasper Schormans, along with Lindblom and Prema's Ty Fisher, took turns leading.
Van Langendonck looked to have set the benchmark with a 1m25.093s at the hour mark, but Craigie returned with five consecutive laps under 1m25.5s, securing the top spot with 1m25.066s. Van Langendonck and Coronel locked out second and third for MP Motorsport, ahead of Lindblom and Schormans.
Bondarev finished sixth, ahead of Rodin Motorsport's Alex Ninovic and Miguel Costa. Costa returned to CL Motorsport in place of Reno Francot after his run with Rodin the day before. Jensen Burnett was a surprise 10th fastest despite not taking part in Tuesday's sessions. The Canadian, racing in Spanish and Italian Formula 4 this season, took over the Rodin entry piloted by Costa on Tuesday.
In the afternoon, Lindblom dominated by improving the fastest time three times in four laps in the first 15 minutes. Nobody could beat his 1m26.025s, although Craigie tried at the end and fell short by 0.086s. Rodin's Ninovic and the impressive Burnett took third and fourth, with the Canadian setting exactly the same time as Costa in fifth.
After six days of official post-season testing, the prospects for 2027 look extremely strong, with some highly impressive rookies and strong sophomore campaigners set to do battle. MP Motorsport showed collective strength with three drivers in the top five, while R-ace GP and Van Amersfoort Racing also displayed speed.
The test results provide an early indication of next season's competition, as young drivers aim to secure full-time race seats. With their performances, Craigie and Lindblom appear to be names to watch.
