Matt Campbell will conclude a decade-long journey with Porsche at the IMSA SportsCar Championship season finale, Petit Le Mans, at Road Atlanta. The Australian will join Porsche Penske Motorsports teammates Laurens Vanthoor and Kevin Estre in the #6 Porsche 963, while Julien Andlauer, Felipe Nasr, and Lauren Heinrich will pilot the #7 car.
This will be Campbell's third start of the season after Daytona and Sebring, where he finished fourth and second respectively. However, this race carries far greater significance: it marks his final outing for Porsche before he shifts his full attention to Ford and its Hypercar program in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
Campbell's ties to Porsche run deep. After graduating from Formula Ford, the Warwick-born driver joined McElrea Racing in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge and later won Porsche Carrera Cup Australia with the same team. That success propelled him onto the global stage with Porsche, and now he closes that chapter on a high note.

“The Petit Le Mans is one of my absolute favourite races,” said Campbell. “It’s always a spectacular way to wrap up the season. This year will be especially meaningful for me personally. It will be my final race for Porsche. For me, this marks the end of 10 wonderful years together – a time for which I am very grateful. It would be perfect if I could achieve another top result on this special occasion.”
Campbell will be one of several drivers from the antipodes in action at Road Atlanta. Earl Bamber continues his season with Action Xpress Racing in its Cadillac V-Series.R alongside Jack Aitken and Frederik Vesti. Aitken leads the GTP title race ahead of Heinrich. “It’s great to go to Petit with the team and manufacturers wrapped up as long as we start the race,” said Bamber. “Now we need to get Jack Aitken a driver’s title and another Petit win for the team to round out what has been an incredible 12 months.”
Scott Dixon will make his third start of the season with Meyer Shank Racing in its Acura ARX-067 with Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun. Other noteworthy GTP entries include Kevin Magnussen with BMW Team WRT and Colton Herta with Wayne Taylor Racing. “I’m excited to be back with Jordan and Louis at Road Atlanta,” said Herta. “It’s been a while since we were last together at Sebring and a few years since I’ve raced at this track. I know the team tested here earlier this month to get prepared for the weekend. It’ll be nice to be behind the wheel of the Cadillac V-Series.R again and ready to hit the ground running.”
In LMP2, Hunter McElrea is searching for his third straight class win. The New Zealander will join Mikkel Jensen and Phil Fayer in the United Autosports entry. In GTD, New Zealand’s Ryan Yardley continues his season in the RS1 Porsche 911 GT3 R with Jan Heylen and Zachary Vanier. Tom Sargent will represent Australia in GTD with Callum Ilott and Adam Adelson in their Wright Motorsports Porsche.
Petit Le Mans takes place on Sunday at 3:10am AEDT. The race not only closes the IMSA season but also marks an emotional moment for Campbell as he leaves behind a long legacy with Porsche. Motorsport fans will surely not miss the action at Road Atlanta.
