Former British rider Cal Crutchlow has opened up once again about the modern dynamics and the immense level of commitment required from every competitor in the premier class world championship. Drawing from his extensive experience as a three-time grand prix winner and his vital role as a test rider, he fully understands the intense physical and mental pressures athletes face out on the track.
Discussing his challenging return to competitive action after a long hiatus, he touched upon his conversations with team manager Gino Borsoi regarding his gradual performance recovery. Getting back up to speed after being away from a prototype machine for two years was no simple feat, yet a structured, step-by-step approach allowed him to regain competitive rhythm weekend by weekend.
Addressing the ever-expanding race calendar and the heavy media and sponsorship obligations currently placed on riders, the outspoken British veteran did not hold back his thoughts on what it takes to survive at the pinnacle of motorcycle racing.
«If they don't want to do it, they can stay at home,» he stated bluntly when addressing complaints regarding the grueling workloads and relentless schedules demanded of today's grid members.
Such remarks highlight the uncompromising standards upheld by seasoned figures of the sport, reinforcing the notion that racing at world championship level remains an absolute privilege requiring total dedication.
