Cadillac has officially announced three high-profile appointments to bolster its technical structure. All three bring experience from Formula 1’s top teams, offering fresh hope for the team’s debut in 2026.
The first hire is Craig Skinner, who joins as chief development engineer. Skinner spent 20 years at Red Bull and was instrumental in building the team into a championship-winning force. At Cadillac, he will provide technical direction across the development process, linking car concept, aerodynamic design, analysis, and delivery. He will report to chief technical officer Nick Chester, one of Cadillac’s first major signings before the team even secured an F1 entry.
Second is Eric Blandin, who becomes head of aerodynamics. Blandin previously held senior roles at Ferrari and Mercedes before joining Aston Martin as deputy technical director under Dan Fallows. However, in 2025 he was ousted as part of an Adrian Newey-led reshuffle that saw seven exits. Now at Cadillac, Blandin will also report to Chester.
Third is Tim Lean, appointed as chief engineer for aerodynamics modelling and simulation. Lean brings a combined 20 years of experience working for McLaren, Red Bull, and Ferrari. He will report to Blandin, strengthening the recently overhauled aero department.
New team boss Marcin Budkowski called the hires a vital step in the team’s technical evolution. "Bringing together experienced leadership across development, aerodynamics and modelling will help us create a stronger integrated technical organisation and improve performance on track. Craig, Eric and Tim bring race and championship-winning experience to Cadillac F1 in areas that are central to our long-term development," he said.
With an increasingly robust technical structure, Cadillac is showing serious ambition to be more than just a grid filler. The recruitment of these three engineers signals that the American team intends to compete at the highest level right from the start.
