Coming off a standout penultimate round that saw a dominant sweep of all four races, a pair of crucial podium finishes proved more than enough for Burchartz to seal the championship title over Triple Eight junior Oli Wickham. This remarkable title immediately adds Burchartz to a distinguished list of national Formula Ford champions in Australia, joining an elite group that includes Craig Lowndes, Garth Tander, Jamie Whincup, and Chaz Mostert. The crowning moment at Phillip Island marks the ultimate reward after a grueling season of immense personal and professional growth.
The weekend at the iconic coastal circuit did not start entirely straightforwardly for the newly crowned champion. Isaac Demellweek kicked off the weekend on top by snatching pole position during a treacherous wet weather qualifying session. Meanwhile, Burchartz had to settle for a fourth-place start on the grid, while Oli Wickham was left with significant work to do after qualifying down in seventh position. Mother Nature ultimately intervened on Saturday when officials were forced to abandon the opening race of the weekend entirely due to persistent and heavy rainfall.
Action resumed with high stakes, and Oli Wickham claimed a dramatic victory in Race 2. In a breathtaking photo finish, he managed to edge out Burchartz by a microscopic margin of just 0.015 seconds. Isaac Demellweek brought his car home in a solid third place, staying ahead of Brad James and Hunter Salvatore who successfully rounded out the top five positions in challenging track conditions.

Not to be outdone in the final showdown, Isaac Demellweek powered his way to victory in the third and final race with another astonishing photo finish of his own. He led home Oli Wickham by a razor-thin margin of 0.024 seconds as the checkered flag dropped. Burchartz safely crossed the line in third position to lock down the points needed, with Brad James claiming another strong fourth and Sam March rounding out the top five.
Reflecting on his championship triumph, Burchartz shared his gratitude on social media. Speaking to Speedcafe and supporters, he stated, “What a year! Taking home the Australian Formula Ford Championship was the best possible way to end off a year of so much growth.” He extended massive thanks to Matt Hillyer, Michael, Maria, Scotty, the entire Sonic team, his mechanic TJ, and his father who drove the transporter to every track, dedicating countless hours to support his racing journey.
