Briatore Closes Baku Chapter: Alpine Focused on Future
TO NEWS OVERVIEW
It was a Safety Car restart melee between the Alpine drivers that ended Norris’ afternoon

Flavio Briatore is not one to dwell on disappointment. The Alpine team boss has confirmed that his squad has moved on from the disastrous race in Baku and is now fully focused on this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix in Sepang, Malaysia.

Baku was a nightmare for Alpine. A chaotic Safety Car restart saw Franco Colapinto lock up and wipe out his teammate Pierre Gasly, as well as McLaren's Lando Norris. Both Alpines were eliminated on the spot, robbing the team of what seemed like a certain points finish.

The incident dealt a significant blow to Alpine's battle with Racing Bulls for fifth place in the Constructors' Championship. Colapinto publicly apologised for his mistake. However, Briatore chose not to dwell on it. "Whatever we do is internal to the team," he said in the Team Principals' Press Conference.

Speaking to Motorsport Week, Briatore admitted he was very disappointed when it happened, but he knows the race must go on. "Sure, I was very disappointed when it happened in Baku, but it's another race. Everybody forgets, you know. We need to keep looking always for the future, and the past is the past, and nothing can be done," he stated.

Still, Briatore has an issue with the stewards' decision. He questioned why Arvid Lindblad was not penalised for a similar move on Liam Lawson. "We were penalised, and we deserve to be penalised. I don't understand why Racing Bull was not penalised, because Lindblad had done exactly the same to Lawson," he said.

With the championship battle so tight, every point matters for Alpine. Losing points in Baku could be a big blow, but Briatore insists his team must move on. "We are fighting for the fifth position with Racing Bulls. We give away a lot of points. After that, it's finito. What can we do? Whatever we've done, it's impossible to come back," he added.

Now, Alpine is aiming for a drama-free weekend in Sepang. Their focus is on a clean performance and scoring as many points as possible. With Briatore's firm stance, the team's morale should remain high and the drivers can perform at their best.
