Bezzecchi admits he struggled to 'stop overthinking' in tough MotoGP spell

Marco Bezzecchi has finally opened up about his difficult MotoGP summer, admitting that a string of crashes and injuries left him trapped in a spiral of overthinking that was hard to escape.

The trouble began at the Hungarian Grand Prix, where he was collected in a first-lap incident involving his teammate, Jorge Martin. Still in pain, he crashed out of the Brno sprint and, in frustration, kicked a marshal – earning him a ban from the Czech GP.

As Aprilia returned to the front at Assen, Bezzecchi continued to struggle and suffered a high-speed crash in the main race. Another incident during German GP qualifying dealt the final blow, landing him in hospital.

In an exclusive interview, Bezzecchi revealed the mental toll. “It was a tough period. After Mugello, we started the weekend at Balaton in a fantastic way. But then everything changed,” he said.

“My mistake in Brno, the big crash in Assen – that was probably the hardest physically. I had just one broken rib, but my whole body was destroyed,” he added.

Bezzecchi is grateful for the support of his family, friends, and the VR46 academy staff. “When you have a period like this, many things come through your mind and it's difficult to stop thinking. But when we put the helmet on, it's like putting in earplugs. It's very beautiful,” he said.

Despite not being fully fit, Bezzecchi managed to qualify on the second row and secure two podiums at Silverstone. That result lifted him to second in the standings, 31 points behind Martin.

“It was a very good comeback. We never gave up and now we are reaping the rewards. I'm very happy for Jorge; he's tough to beat and a great motivation,” he concluded.
