Audi has officially announced plans to build a brand-new campus at its Swiss base in Hinwil, a bold statement of intent for the next chapter of its Formula 1 journey. The facility will serve as the long-term foundation for the team, now competing as Audi Revolut F1 Team.

Since taking over Sauber's entry at the start of the season, Audi has shown it means business. Despite losing Team Principal Jonathan Wheatley after just two grands prix, the German marque has impressed, competing in or on the fringes of the midfield. Now, with the new campus, Audi aims to ensure it is not just making up the numbers.

The campus, to be built in the Hinwil area, will feature modern facilities to support collaboration and innovation. Audi will retain its hub in Neuberg, Germany, and the Bicester Motion campus in England. However, Hinwil remains the operational heart, where Sauber was based for 32 years in F1. Completion is projected for 2030, just in time for F1's new regulations cycle.

Mattia Binotto, Audi's F1 project chief, emphasised that the facility is key to attracting and retaining top talent. "The Campus will play an important role in helping us attract and retain world-class talent while providing the foundations required to achieve our long-term ambitions," he said. "Building a successful Formula 1 team is ultimately about people. The best engineers, designers, mechanics and specialists want to work in an environment that allows them to collaborate, innovate and perform at their highest level. The Campus will help us create exactly that environment."

Binotto also highlighted the uniqueness of the project. He noted that such opportunities are rare in modern F1. "We are not simply moving into an existing facility; we are creating a home designed around our people, our culture and our ambitions. This Campus is an important part of that journey," he added.

Furthermore, Binotto expressed gratitude to the Municipality of Hinwil. "We are proud that the next chapter of Audi Revolut F1 Team will be written in Hinwil and I would like to place on record my thanks to the Municipality of Hinwil itself," he concluded.

With this move, Audi is signalling its serious intent to become a new force in F1. The campus, set for completion in 2030, will be a crucial foundation for the new regulatory era. If all goes to plan, Audi could well be a title contender in the future.
