A major question mark hangs over the premier class grid as Aprilia team manager Paolo Bonora admits that absolutely nobody knows whether the reinforced hard rear tyre will completely solve the blistering woes in Motegi.
This uncertainty follows severe heat-related blistering during Saturday's Sprint race that forced Michelin to withdraw the soft rear compound. The unexpected degradation heavily affected front-runners, including Jorge Martin and key figures from the Ducati stable.
In response, race organizers doubled the warm-up session length, giving teams a brief window to evaluate the hard option recommended for Sunday's grand prix. However, even with the extended track time, the highest number of laps completed on the compound by any rider stopped short at just 12 tours.

Bonora warned that thermal blistering typically strikes in the latter stages of a grand prix and can quickly spiral out of control. Ultimately, safety and tire integrity will outweigh raw performance as the teams finalize their rubber strategies before the race.
