After a busy early season, ANDRA's attention now turns to Mildura. The Sunset Nationals, set for September 18-20, will carry championship points and ANDRA Christmas Trees across 10 brackets, making it a key meeting for racers looking to build momentum early in the season.

A Friday Test 'n' Tune will kick off proceedings before qualifying on Saturday and eliminations on Sunday, with entries open for what is shaping as a strong weekend at Sunset Strip.

ANDRA Chief Executive Officer Tim McAvaney said there is plenty for racers and fans to look forward to as the series moves to Victoria's north-west. "Our focus now turns to the Sunset Nationals, and we are looking forward to what is shaping as an exciting weekend of ANDRA Regional Sportsman Series racing at Mildura," said McAvaney.

"Entries are building, all brackets are open, and with a Test 'n' Tune on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and eliminations on Sunday, there is plenty to look forward to. There is still time to enter, and we encourage racers to be part of what promises to be a great event at the Sunset Strip," he added.

In the lead-up, the Sunraysia Drag Racing Association (SDRA) has confirmed the 2026 Junior Nationals will not proceed due to low entrant numbers. Junior competitors will still be able to race at the Sunset Nationals, where ANDRA Christmas Trees and series points remain on offer alongside the other championship brackets.

McAvaney expressed disappointment but respected SDRA's decision. "It is disappointing that the Junior Nationals will not go ahead this year, particularly given the event's place on the calendar and the opportunity it provided for our junior competitors. We respect SDRA's decision and the work involved in delivering these events, especially when entry numbers make things challenging," he said.

Entries for the Sunset Nationals are available now at the official Sunset Strip website.
