MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Alex Marquez delivered a commanding performance to win the 2026 Spanish MotoGP at Jerez, while Marc Marquez crashed out in the early stages of the race.

The factory Ducati rider initially converted pole position into the lead, but the race dynamics changed on lap two when Alex Marquez overtook him. Moments later, Marc lost the front at high speed and retired, marking his second non-finish on a Sunday this season.

With clear track ahead, Alex Marquez controlled the race pace and gradually extended his advantage over Marco Bezzecchi. The Aprilia rider stayed close in the opening laps but began to fade as the race progressed.

“We executed everything as planned. The focus was on consistency and avoiding mistakes,” Alex Marquez stated.

The victory ended Bezzecchi’s streak of five consecutive grand prix wins and secured Ducati’s first grand prix victory of the 2026 season through the Gresini team.

Bezzecchi finished second, while Fabio Di Giannantonio completed the podium after overtaking Jorge Martin early in the race.

Martin recovered from a tenth-place grid start, due to a penalty, to finish fourth and maintain his position in the championship fight. Bezzecchi remains the championship leader, though the margin has narrowed.

Behind them, Ai Ogura finished fifth ahead of Raul Fernandez, while Johann Zarco dropped to seventh after starting from the front row.

Enea Bastianini was the leading KTM rider in eighth, with Pedro Acosta falling to tenth after sustaining front-end damage in contact with Fernandez.

Francesco Bagnaia also retired due to a technical issue, extending a challenging run for the factory Ducati team in Sunday races.

Fabio Quartararo was the top Yamaha rider, while Joan Mir completed the race despite serving double long lap penalties.

The result reinforces Alex Marquez’s position as a serious title contender and sets the stage for an intensified championship battle heading into the next round at Le Mans.
