MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Alex Marquez of Gresini Racing secured a dominant victory at the 2026 Spanish MotoGP in Jerez, delivering a controlled performance to claim back-to-back home wins.

The Spanish rider took control of the race in the early stages after overtaking pole-sitter Marc Marquez. The race narrative shifted significantly when Marc crashed at high speed, eliminating himself from contention and handing Alex a clear path to manage the race from the front.

Maintaining consistent pace and effective tyre management, Alex kept Marco Bezzecchi under control throughout the race. The result also brought an end to Bezzecchi’s run of five consecutive grand prix victories dating back to late 2025.

“We learned from yesterday’s Sprint. Today I focused on maintaining the pace and avoiding unnecessary risks,” said Alex Marquez.

Bezzecchi initially stayed within range but began to lose ground during the middle phase of the race. He then shifted focus to defending second place from Fabio Di Giannantonio, who secured third after overtaking Jorge Martin early on.

The race also featured a retirement for Francesco Bagnaia, who encountered a technical issue after recovering from a poor start into the top ten.

In the midfield, Johann Zarco lost positions to Aprilia riders including Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura, both showing competitive race pace.

Enea Bastianini was the leading KTM rider, while Fabio Quartararo finished as the top Yamaha rider outside the top ten.

All riders opted for medium compound tyres front and rear, highlighting a conservative approach focused on race consistency under dry conditions.

This victory not only ends Bezzecchi’s winning streak but also reinforces Alex Marquez’s status as a serious title contender in the 2026 season. Attention now turns to the next round at Le Mans, where the championship battle is expected to intensify further.
