Right shoulder issues have once again flared up for Alex Marquez as he tackles the demanding MotoGP Malaysia weekend at Sepang. The Spanish rider admitted that the physical discomfort is hindering his performance, stemming from a previous crash in Barcelona where he collided with the slowing KTM machine of Pedro Acosta during the grand prix.
The Gresini Racing competitor first highlighted the shoulder as a persistent concern during the Mandalika round. While it was barely noticeable when he initially returned to action at Assen, the physical strain has progressively worsened as the grueling Asian tour wears on, leaving riders with minimal recovery days between consecutive flyaway events.
Despite struggling more than anticipated with his physical condition during Friday practice, Marquez managed to successfully pivot his setup strategy. Drawing on data from the previous season, he remained patient and worked alongside his engineering crew to refine the electronic mapping and baseline setup before the afternoon sessions.

"It's true that this morning I suffered quite a lot and nothing was what I was expecting, everything was working much different than my expectations," Alex Marquez told MotoGP.com. He further explained that patience and systematic analysis allowed them to dial in the soft rear tire configuration and drastically improve their overall pace by the end of the day.
Pinpointing the most painful sections of the Sepang layout, the Spaniard noted that quick direction changes and heavy braking zones take the heaviest toll on his body. "Especially change of direction, so from turn one to turn two; two to three; later on five and six a lot; and the fast ones – 12 to 13. It's like it is, and also in all the braking points. So, I'm suffering a little bit, but to make short runs it will be not a problem, for the Sprint will not a problem; for the main race on Sunday, that I will be even more tired and painful, it will be hard. But I will try my best," he concluded.
