A dream weekend for Alex Escrig and the Forward Racing squad turned into utter devastation after a cruel mechanical failure struck just laps away from a maiden victory in the intermediate class at Mandalika.
Signs of a breakthrough performance were evident from the opening practice sessions at the Indonesian venue. Securing second place in both FP1 and Friday's practice, followed by a brilliant front-row grid spot in qualifying, underlined the incredible step forward made by the underdog outfit.
When the initial start got underway, chaos immediately erupted behind the leaders involving Daniel Holgado, David Alonso, Joe Roberts, and Collin Veijer, prompting a red flag stoppage and a subsequent restart procedure.

Upon resumption, the Spanish rider executed a phenomenal launch to grab the holeshot and dictate the pace at the front. He controlled the gap expertly through the middle stages, looking poised to convert his stunning speed into an unforgettable triumph.
Heartbreak struck with only two laps remaining when a sudden technical glitch forced him to pull off the circuit and abandon his machine. Despite missing out on the top step of the podium, he chose to focus on the positives of his career-best weekend and looked ahead to upcoming rounds.
