The MotoGP race weekend at the Sepang International Circuit delivered intense internal drama involving Aprilia machines. Ai Ogura, representing the Trackhouse MotoGP Team, was involved in a dramatic near-crash with factory rider Marco Bezzecchi. The fierce battle for fourth place reached a boiling point when carbon fiber shards flew across the asphalt following a high-stakes contact between the two Aprilia RS-GP prototypes.

The incident unfolded when the Japanese rider attempted an aggressive overtaking maneuver down the inside. Addressing the close call that nearly sent both competitors tumbling into the gravel trap, Ogura openly shouldered the blame, admitting to a critical miscalculation during the braking phase and taking full responsibility for the trackside collision.

"The contact was entirely my fault," Ogura stated regarding the nerve-wracking moment. "When we entered the first corner together, he knew I was going to try and overtake. He braked late and therefore ran wide off the ideal racing line. I saw an opportunity to pass, but I simply did not expect him to try and cut back onto the racing line. I anticipated he would hold his outside line to secure a better approach for turn two. I misread the entire situation."

Despite engaging in a hard-fought duel that could have easily spelled disaster for the factory camp, the sophomore contender confirmed he had not yet spoken with senior team management prior to his media debrief. However, he emphasized his intention to visit the Italian rider's garage personally to clear the air.

"I haven't spoken with the Aprilia management yet. But I will go to Marco to apologize in person. When you experience such hard contact during a battle, it comes as a shock. Fortunately, neither of us crashed," he added.

Starting the Sunday grand prix from fourth on the grid, tyre conservation proved to be the ultimate catalyst for the former Moto2 world-class standout. After trading positions in the early stages, his late-race surge in the final quarter of the grand prix paid off thanks to superior rubber preservation.

"If I had managed to stay ahead of Bez at the beginning, it would have been a completely different race for me. However, I conserved my tyres much better than the rest of the pack. Managing the tyre degradation correctly was the absolute priority," Ogura explained. "The riders who finished ahead of me executed a better race strategy. For me, securing today's result was the absolute maximum."

This fourth-place finish marks a massive leap forward compared to his previous outings at the Malaysian venue, validating the squad's ongoing developmental strides with the machinery as the season approaches its final showdowns.
