The tension of the 2026 world championship reached a boiling point as the Moto2 grid tackled the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit in a dramatic, action-packed race. Izan Guevara claimed his third consecutive victory in commanding fashion, successfully eating into the championship lead.
Starting from pole position, the Spanish rider held a distinct grid advantage, whereas his title rival Manuel Gonzalez faced an uphill battle down in tenth. However, the initial start was immediately disrupted by a heavy multi-bike pile-up on the opening lap.
The red flag was quickly deployed to halt proceedings. The Turn 1 incident involved contact between the Aspar machines, as well as catching out Joe Roberts and collin-veijer, forcing frantic repair work by the mechanics during the stoppage.

When the 14-lap restarted grid formed, early leader Alex Escrig controlled the pace once again. However, heartbreak struck with just a lap and a half remaining when the Forward machine suffered a terminal technical failure, forcing Escrig to retire.
This handed victory straight to Guevara, who crossed the line 3.570s clear to seal another maximum points haul. Meanwhile, Gonzalez salvaged a crucial second place after carving his way through the pack from tenth on the grid.
