Martin Takes Record Pole at Silverstone, Bagnaia P16

Jorge Martin underlined his championship credentials with a record-breaking pole position at Silverstone for the 2026 British MotoGP. The Aprilia rider surged late in qualifying to secure the top spot, leading an all-Aprilia front row and sending a clear message to his rivals.

Until the final minutes, Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura from Trackhouse looked set to dominate, but Martin found a stunning burst of pace to snatch pole by just 0.021 seconds from Fernandez. The tension was palpable as the clock wound down, with Martin delivering when it mattered most.

The second row features Marc Marquez, who briefly held provisional pole after a heart-in-mouth moment at Farm curve, but had to settle for sixth. His Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi, returning from injury, impressed by jumping to fourth, while Francesco Bagnaia endured a nightmare session, ending up 16th on the grid.

Qualifying also highlighted Aprilia's dominance at Silverstone, with four of the top five riders on RS-GP machinery. Franco Morbidelli and Iker Lecuona both fought through Q1 to reach Q2, adding intrigue to the midfield battle.

With the front row so tightly packed, Saturday's sprint race promises fireworks. Martin is the favourite, but Fernandez and Ogura are ready to challenge. One thing is certain: Silverstone has once again delivered drama.
