2026 British GP Schedule and Silverstone Start

Formula 1, Sportrik Media - The 2026 British Grand Prix will host the ninth round of the season at Silverstone Circuit from July 3-5. The 52-lap main race is scheduled to begin at 15:00 BST on Sunday, July 5.

Silverstone will use the Sprint format, leaving teams with only one free practice session before competitive running begins. Free Practice 1 starts at 12:30 BST on Friday, followed by Sprint Qualifying at 16:30 BST.

The Sprint begins at 12:00 BST on Saturday and provides the first opportunity for drivers to score points. Grand prix qualifying follows at 16:00 BST to determine the starting grid for Sunday’s race.

The main event is scheduled to start at 15:00 local time. The race will run for 52 laps, with an approximate two-hour window allocated, although Safety Car periods, red flags or other interruptions could extend the programme.

The Sprint format increases the pressure on preparation because the Formula 1 teams have only one hour of practice to establish their set-ups. Any mistake during FP1 could directly affect Sprint Qualifying and the remainder of the weekend.

The 2026 British Grand Prix begins with Friday practice and concludes with Sunday afternoon’s main race. Sprint Qualifying, the Sprint and grand prix qualifying will provide competitive action on every day of the Silverstone weekend.
