Kimi Antonelli kicked off the Dutch Grand Prix weekend in spectacular fashion, topping the only free practice session at Zandvoort. The Mercedes driver edged out Lando Norris by less than a tenth and a half around the challenging dunes circuit.
Antonelli's lap of 1:12.949 set the benchmark, with Norris second on 1:13.070. George Russell completed the top three, ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. The hour-long session saw several off-track moments, including Carlos Sainz and Hamilton kicking up gravel, while Antonelli executed a harmless 360-degree spin.
Liam Lawson impressed on his return to Red Bull, quickly finding pace and comfort in the RB22. In contrast, Max Verstappen was less pleased, complaining about "ridiculous" downshifts that nearly put him in the wall—a recurring issue this season. Yuki Tsunoda showed early pace but faded to P17 after battling with teammate Arvid Lindblad.

With qualifying looming, teams now have valuable data to fine-tune their setups. The battle at the front looks intense, and Red Bull's reliability concerns could be a deciding factor.
