Zandvoort, a weekend full of drama. Lando Norris emerged as the winner of a chaotic 2026 Dutch Grand Prix, while Max Verstappen was forced to retire after a crash at the same corner that had caught out his teammate earlier. This was the final F1 race at Zandvoort, and it ended in an unforgettable way.
Norris Dominates, Verstappen Disappoints
Norris was superior, finishing 32 seconds ahead of his teammate Oscar Piastri. He also cleverly thwarted Kimi Antonelli's half-hearted move on Lewis Hamilton. This win boosts Norris's confidence, and although mathematically his chances are slim, he once again proved that his team can dominate races on merit. On the other side, Verstappen fell victim to the damp track conditions. After earlier commenting that the cars' limit was easy to find, he himself was caught out in an ironic crash, hitting the wall at the banked corner. This shows that even the best drivers can slip in difficult conditions.
Impressive Performances and Disappointing Outings
Nico Hulkenberg delivered a heroic drive. Despite having to avoid the smoke from teammate Gabriel Bortoleto's spin at the start, he managed to finish eighth. He fought hard with Arvid Lindblad and Pierre Gasly on lap 27 and emerged as the best of that battle. This was his second consecutive points-scoring weekend of 2026.
In contrast, Oscar Piastri had a tough race. Starting from an unfavorable position, he lost places to Charles Leclerc and struggled to recover. He could only manage sixth place, and over the last two weekends he has scored just 12 points. Piastri admitted confusion over his lack of pace, while his team continues to support him in finding a solution.
Fernando Alonso also deserves a mention. With his experience, he finished ninth and showed he is still competitive at his age. Overall, the 2026 Dutch GP offered an entertaining and tense spectacle, leaving many lessons for all teams and drivers.
