Joshua Duerksen delivered a masterclass in race craft to seize victory in the Formula 2 Sprint Race at Monza, a result that could prove pivotal in the championship battle.
The Paraguayan methodically worked his way up to second place at the Temple of Speed before sweeping past Trident's John Bennett for the lead, a position he held through two Safety Car periods.
But it was a disastrous day for Invicta as title contender Rafael Camara was spun around by Nicolas Varrone early on, stalling his car and triggering the first Safety Car. Rival Nikola Tsolov capitalised, finishing fifth to extend his points advantage.

A Title-Defining Moment?
Camara's failure to score points is a massive blow to his championship hopes. Meanwhile, Tsolov continues to pile on the pressure with consistent points finishes.
The race also highlighted Duerksen's resurgence, as he transformed from a struggling midfielder to a genuine front-runner, showcasing his ability to overtake with precision and defend with tenacity.
This victory sends a clear message to the paddock: Duerksen is a force to be reckoned with, and the championship battle is far from over.
Intense Battles at Every Corner
The race began with Bennett leading comfortably, while Goethe got bogged down at the Rettifilio, allowing Inthraphuvasak to move into second. Goethe's attempts to retake the position at the Roggia chicane were unsuccessful.
Duerksen and Martinius Stenshorne held fourth and fifth, with Tsolov sixth. Camara, meanwhile, slipped to tenth after a poor start.
On lap three, Goethe used DRS to pass Inthrapuvasak but left himself vulnerable, allowing Duerksen to snatch third on the exit of the Rettifilio. Duerksen made several attempts to pass Inthrapuvasak, but track limits violations forced him to give the place back until he finally made it stick on lap five.
Behind them, Camara's race unravelled when he was spun by Varrone at the exit of the Rettifilio. His Invicta stalled, forcing his retirement and bringing out the Safety Car, which erased Bennett's lead.
After the restart, Duerksen kept pressuring Bennett and took the lead on lap nine at the Rettifilio. Inthrapuvasak then fell down the order, while Goethe moved up to third.
Duerksen held on to win by half a second from Bennett, marking a statement victory for the Paraguayan.
Now all eyes turn to the Feature Race, where Camara will seek redemption while Tsolov aims to extend his lead. The championship narrative is far from settled.
