David Salvador successfully secured the pole position during the World Sportbike Superpole session at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto on Friday afternoon. The Spanish rider set the pace with a brilliant lap time of 1'45.802, outpacing his fierce rivals ahead of the crucial weekend races.
The qualifying session was heavily overshadowed by a major crash involving Dutch rider Jurrien van Crugten early in the proceedings. The incident occurred at turn 3 when Van Crugten collided with the back of Fenton Seabright's Triumph after the Briton fought to control a sudden highsider and lost significant momentum on the racing line.
Due to the severity of the crash, the session was immediately red-flagged, and Van Crugten was quickly transported to the circuit's Medical Centre. Medical checks revealed significant trauma to two of his fingers, including a deep laceration and a missing fingernail resulting from the high-speed impact.

Following the restart, Salvador immediately laid down the benchmark lap time to claim the top spot. Carter Thompson followed closely behind in second place with a 0.701-second deficit, while Xavi Artigas completed the front row by rounding out the top three positions.
Further down the timesheets, Belgian rider Ferre Fleerackers qualified in ninth place, with Jeffrey Buis taking eighteenth. Indi Schunselaar finished down in 29th position, while the early-crash victim Van Crugten was officially classified 31st despite missing the remainder of the shortened session.
