The ongoing WorldSBK career of Danilo Petrucci is facing a critical juncture after the Italian rider confessed that the upcoming season finale at Jerez will probably be his final appearance in the production-based motorcycle world championship.

Despite ongoing discussions and active negotiations with the GoEleven Ducati squad regarding a potential seat for the upcoming campaign, nothing has been finalized yet as the experienced competitor weighs his options for the future.

An alternative path leading to a switch to MotoAmerica with BMW in 2027 remains a strong possibility, leaving the veteran racer to carefully evaluate whether to extend his stay in the current paddock or seek a fresh challenge across the Atlantic.

Speaking exclusively to WorldSBK.com following the conclusion of Race 2 at Estoril, Petrucci emphasized that the ultimate choice rests entirely on his personal assessment of his racing future once the current championship schedule officially concludes.

"There is something, but still it’s too early," Danilo Petrucci stated when addressing the paddock rumors surrounding his next career move. "I don’t know, sincerely. There are many things that have to match, but let’s see."

The former Grand Prix rider highlighted that the primary hurdle is deciding his own competitive desires before committing to any new contract offer or race program for the upcoming season of motorsport competition.

"First of all, it’s a decision that I have to take: if I want to follow racing in this championship or not. It’s my decision, so I have to think about it," he explained regarding the timeline of his upcoming career announcement.

As the emotional final round approaches rapidly next week, Petrucci admitted experiencing a mixture of eagerness to hit the track and a deep desire to halt the clock to delay what promises to be a very poignant farewell to the championship.

"I can’t say that I can’t wait until Jerez because on one hand I would really like to be already there. On the other hand, I really would like to stop time and that probably my last race in World Superbike will never come," he concluded.
