Nicolo Bulega once again proved his dominance in the 2026 WorldSBK season with his eighth win of the year in Race 2 at Magny-Cours. However, despite his flawless performance on the French circuit, the world champion crown could not be secured that evening.
This victory was nearly perfect, but the mathematical title target has been postponed. Iker Lecuona, his teammate and closest rival, finished second, keeping the championship hope alive until the final rounds of the season.
Bulega's Dominance at Magny-Cours
From Superpole to Race 2, Bulega was superior on the Magny-Cours asphalt. He led from the start, pulled away with an incredible pace, and only lost control when the race was stopped early due to Thomas Bridewell's crash on the penultimate lap.

Bridewell was unhurt, but his bike hit the air fence, prompting the red flag. With more than two-thirds of the race completed, results were taken from the last full lap, and Bulega emerged as the winner.
Battle for Positions Heats Up Behind
Behind the two leading Ducati riders, the fight for the final podium spot changed hands several times. Yari Montella briefly lost third place to Alberto Surra, but he reclaimed it and finished on the podium.
Alberto Surra had to settle for fifth after a fierce duel with Lorenzo Baldassarri. Meanwhile, Alvaro Bautista, another Ducati rider, completed the top six ahead of Garrett Gerloff on the Kawasaki.
Title Could Be Sealed at Cremona
With a still comfortable points lead, Bulega has a strong chance to lock up the world championship at the next round in Cremona, his home circuit in Italy. That event is scheduled for September 25-27.
This situation is a dream for Bulega: being crowned world champion in front of his home crowd. The pressure now shifts to Lecuona, who must perform flawlessly to delay his rival's celebration.
Will history be made at Cremona? Or will another rider spring a surprise? One thing is certain, the WorldSBK paddock will witness an intriguing psychological battle as the season heads toward its climax.
