Big news has hit the WorldSBK paddock. Brad Binder is confirmed to join BMW's factory WorldSBK team for the 2027 season. He will partner Miguel Oliveira, whose contract with BMW was confirmed last week ahead of the French round at Magny-Cours.

This news puts an end to the long speculation linking the South African rider to a BMW seat since the summer. As a result, the German manufacturer will reunite the rider duo that last brought KTM a MotoGP victory in 2022.

On the same day, Danilo Petrucci confirmed he would not stay with BMW's factory team next year. It is this seat, vacated by Petrucci, that Binder will fill.

BMW's Enthusiasm and Title Ambitions

Sven Blusch, head of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, warmly welcomed Binder's arrival. He emphasized Binder's determination to start a new chapter in WorldSBK and his clear goal of fighting for the world title.

"We are delighted to welcome Brad to the BMW Motorrad Motorsport family. What particularly impresses us is his absolute determination to start a new chapter in WorldSBK. His goal is clear: he wants to fight for the world championship title," said Blusch.

Blusch also believes that the combination of Binder and Oliveira will be a strong duo. "With Brad and Miguel, two former teammates are reunited who complement each other perfectly, both in terms of their personalities and their riding styles. This combination has great potential," he added.

Petrucci's Future

Despite losing his seat in the factory team, Petrucci remains valued by BMW. Blusch stated that the brand will continue to work with Petrucci on future projects. "We want to finish the current season strongly and are working towards a future together in other projects," Blusch explained.
