Gabriel Bortoleto has a big dream in Formula 1: building a long-term legacy with Audi. The young Brazilian driver revealed that staying with a single team throughout his career is his ultimate goal in the pinnacle of motorsport.
Bortoleto, who clinched back-to-back titles in Formula 3 and Formula 2 before securing his F1 seat, has high ambitions for Audi's factory arrival. Rather than switching teams across the grid, he wants to anchor the German manufacturer's long-term project from the ground up.
"That would be the dream," Bortoleto told media including Motorsport Week. "If we stay 15 years together, it means the partnership between me and Audi has worked in an incredible way. I've always been the type of guy, since go-karting, that my dream was always to stay with one team, if possible. Hopefully, I can do this with Audi."
This reflection comes as Max Verstappen demonstrates that long-term loyalty can forge dominant eras. While historic champions often switched teams, Verstappen proved that commitment can be the key to success.
Bortoleto also touched on differing motivations among drivers. "Did the world change? I don't know. I think it's opinions. It's also what moves you and challenges you. Lewis, for example, has done many years with Mercedes. Maybe he needed a new challenge – I don't know. Obviously, you need to ask him. Each of us has a way to motivate us," he explained.
Despite his stellar junior record, Bortoleto remains grounded. "Still, I have achieved absolutely nothing in Formula 1. I didn't win a race. I didn't win a title yet. Maybe in a few years, if these things conclude themselves, you can ask me again and I'll tell you what motivates me," he admitted.
"I'm quite sure that making history with a team that has never been in Formula 1 and then achieving many things with them would be a great story to tell one day," concluded the driver who will partner with Lando Norris? No, he will be with Audi.
