Pramac Yamaha rider Toprak Razgatlioglu expressed extreme anger and confusion after suffering what he described as a very stupid crash at the end of the first qualifying session (Q1) for the MotoGP Mugello round. The reigning World Superbike champion crashed on the entry to the final corner following a practice start, completely destroying his prototype machine. The incident severely impacted his confidence, ultimately leaving him to finish a disappointing 17th in the Saturday Sprint race.

Speaking to the media on Saturday evening, the Turkish rider explained that the crash was triggered by a sudden front-end lock-up on the straight. He desperately attempted to release the brakes to lift the front end, but the maneuver failed, causing him to lose the front entirely. Razgatlioglu firmly stated that the incident was not his mistake, attributing the bizarre fall to his ongoing and difficult adaptation to the Michelin front tyre, a drastic change from the Pirelli rubber he mastered throughout his Superbike career.
The devastating Q1 crash fundamentally shattered his trust in the front end of his Yamaha for the remainder of Saturday's running through Mugello's sweeping curves. He admitted to struggling immensely in the long, fast corners, noting that the front felt like it was closing even when he was completely off the brakes and applying the throttle. Although he is slowly beginning to understand the required lean angles during braking phases, Toprak acknowledges that his progress is still not enough to match the pace of fellow Yamaha rider Alex Rins, as he desperately hopes for a setup breakthrough for Sunday's feature race.
