MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Marco Bezzecchi celebrated a thrilling second-place podium at the MotoGP San Marino 2025 at Misano Circuit, a deeply emotional moment in front of his home fans. The Aprilia Racing rider pushed his limits over 27 laps, battling closely with Marc Marquez, despite minor errors costing him the win. Bezzecchi expressed satisfaction with his performance and highlighted a respectful rivalry with Marquez.
Intense Race with Overwhelming Satisfaction
Bezzecchi shone at Misano, leading for 11 laps before a braking mistake at turn eight allowed Marquez to take the lead. He finished just half a second behind. “The satisfaction is definitely greater than the regret. I had a great race,” he told Sportrik contributor Manuel Pecino. “When you’re at the limit, it’s normal to make small mistakes. Unfortunately, it happened, but if you’re not there, you won’t repeat it.”
He emphasized his team’s progress. “We’re improving. It’s true we struggle a bit more in the race than in testing, but this helps us keep working hard,” he said. Bezzecchi felt at ease on his Aprilia bike, enjoying the race despite the constant risk of crashing. “I felt comfortable and could enjoy it, that’s the most important thing,” he added.
Managing Pressure at Home
Racing at Misano in front of home fans brought unique pressure. Bezzecchi shared his approach to staying calm. “When racing at home, you have to shift yourself to a different place. You have to pretend it’s just another race,” he explained. Yet, he admitted to reliving the race repeatedly. “I’ll definitely watch it, like always, 20 or 30 times. I might curse a lot, but that’s normal,” he joked.
Technically, Bezzecchi noted challenges in Q1 and Q2, where Marquez had an edge. “In Q3, I was quite fast, though my bike moved a lot. When the rear wheel slipped, Marc controlled it better,” he said. Still, he was proud of his team’s remarkable result, challenging the dominance of Ducati Lenovo Team. “Ducati took all the top spots. Breaking that trend is tough, but we’re on the right path,” he stated.
Relationship with Marquez and Focus on Process
Bezzecchi addressed his dynamic with Marquez, which was strained in the past. “Things were complicated before; maybe I was a bit more childish. Now it’s going very well,” he said. Though not close friends, he respects Marquez’s speed. “You can’t stop noticing Marc’s pace; he’s a rival, but that’s how it is with all MotoGP riders. We respect each other and have great races on track,” he noted. Playfully, he dismissed traveling with Marc and Alex Marquez, preferring VR46 Academy companions.
Regarding the championship, Bezzecchi, close to third place, avoids fixation. “Honestly, I haven’t thought about it. There are still many races left; we could easily finish eighth or ninth. It’s pointless to think about it now,” he said. He prioritizes hard work over title obsession.
Joy of a Home Podium
The highlight for Bezzecchi was the fans’ reaction post-race. “Seeing everyone shouting my name, waving my flags, sharing that madness with me is priceless. One of the most beautiful emotions ever,” he shared. MotoGP’s larger platform amplifies fan support compared to Moto2. “When you get good results here, more people see you, and the support grows,” he said.
