Marco Bezzecchi was almost perfect at Silverstone. Pole position, a clean launch when the lights went out, but one tiny mistake at the first corner changed everything. Marc Marquez, ever alert, needed no second invitation to strike, and Bezzecchi had to settle for third behind the Marquez brothers.
The Aprilia rider admitted he braked too early entering Turn 1. Marquez seized the moment to take the lead, also allowing Alex Marquez to tuck in behind. The trio crossed the line in that order: Marc, Alex, then Bezzecchi.
Despite missing out on the top step, Bezzecchi still gained valuable ground in the championship. He trimmed the gap to Jorge Martin to 29 points, a crucial margin as the season reaches its decisive phase.
“Third place is valuable. But honestly, I’m a bit annoyed because I made a small mistake at the start. I braked a touch too early, and Marc Marquez is always ready to exploit any tiny gap,” Bezzecchi told Sky Sport after the race.
He also admitted being stuck behind Alex Marquez, who was on the soft tyre. “Alex was also on soft, so he had similar acceleration in the opening laps. I couldn’t attack him, and once the tyre dropped, it was all about survival. Still, I’m happy—it was a good day,” he added.
This result extends Bezzecchi’s streak of third-place finishes after his podium at Silverstone last time out. Consistency like this is key as he looks to stay in the title hunt in the second half of the season.
