The BBC is reportedly preparing a comprehensive documentary film exploring one of the most iconic and dramatic campaigns in motorsport history: the 2007 Formula 1 season. Defined by an explosive internal garage rivalry at McLaren, high-stakes industrial espionage, and a thrilling title showdown in Brazil, the upcoming project sheds light on a truly unforgettable year.
The 2007 season marked the arrival of the reigning GP2 champion onto the premier class grid. Lewis Hamilton stepped into the pinnacle of motorsport to race alongside two-time defending World Champion Fernando Alonso. Rather than forming a dream lineup, the Woking-based outfit quickly transformed into a pressure cooker of psychological warfare and fierce intra-team tension.
Hostilities between the two teammates began simmering early in the campaign, notably at the Monaco Grand Prix where the rookie was forced to lift off to secure victory for the Spaniard. However, the situation boiled over completely during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend, exposing deep-seated fractures within the team's leadership and garage structure.

During qualifying at the Hungaroring, Alonso intentionally held up his teammate in the pit lane, preventing the British driver from completing his final flying lap. The controversial maneuver resulted in a five-place grid penalty for the Spaniard and stripped the team of its Constructors' championship points for that specific event.
Amidst this intense battle for supremacy, the team was simultaneously engulfed in the infamous 'Spygate' industrial espionage scandal centered around confidential Ferrari technical documents. While the Woking squad faced severe regulatory exclusion from the constructors' standings, a stealthy Kimi Raikkonen capitalized on the chaos to snatch the drivers' crown in a dramatic finale.
