MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Ducati Lenovo Team rider Francesco Bagnaia sets his sights on a strong performance at Misano after finishing seventh in the 2025 Catalan MotoGP. Despite a challenging weekend, Bagnaia showed significant improvement with the Ducati Desmosedici GP25.
Recovery in Catalan Grand Prix
Bagnaia faced a tough start in Barcelona-Catalunya, lining up in 21st on the grid. Nevertheless, he made a remarkable recovery, climbing to 12th on the first lap and securing seventh place by the race’s end. His performance was bolstered by two key technical upgrades: a new swingarm enhancing bike stability and a full fuel tank improving tire grip.
“In terms of feeling, today I felt a bit better,” Bagnaia said. “I gained extra grip thanks to the swingarm and the larger fuel tank, giving me confidence to enter corners faster.”
However, tire management remained a challenge. Bagnaia admitted struggling to overtake Fabio Quartararo due to excessive rear tire wear. “I pushed too hard and couldn’t manage the rear tire well,” he explained.

Challenges and Realistic Goals
Despite the seventh-place finish, Bagnaia kept his expectations grounded. He noted that a top-five finish was his initial target, but starting from 21st made it difficult. “Finishing higher than seventh was possible, but starting so far back brings a lot of uncertainty,” he said.
Looking ahead to Misano, Bagnaia remains cautious. “I don’t want to give myself false hopes again,” he stated, reflecting a pragmatic approach after the Catalunya result.
Preparation for Misano
Bagnaia plans to leverage the Misano test to fine-tune the Desmosedici GP25, aiming to optimize its setup for a circuit where Ducati traditionally excels. As the 2022 and 2023 MotoGP champion, he is confident in his ability to compete at the front.
“I want to arrive at Misano with high competitiveness,” Bagnaia emphasized, signaling his determination to improve in the remaining 2025 races.
Meanwhile, teammate Marc Marquez has already secured the 2025 world championship, underscoring Ducati Lenovo Team’s dominance.
Despite challenges in Catalunya, Francesco Bagnaia demonstrated progress with the Ducati. With a focus on the Misano test and better tire management, he is poised for a strong showing in upcoming races. For further updates, visit Sportrik.
