Kimi Antonelli secured victory at the 2026 Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix after an extended battle with Lando Norris, with Oscar Piastri completing the podium in a full-distance 57-lap race unaffected by weather.

The win was defined by strategic execution and tyre management from Mercedes, maintaining consistent pace in the closing stages as Norris’ attack window narrowed. McLaren remained highly competitive, placing both cars in the top three and demonstrating strong aerodynamic efficiency and controlled tyre degradation.
Behind them, George Russell and Max Verstappen completed the top five. Verstappen recovered from an early spin while battling Charles Leclerc, utilising a safety car pit strategy to regain track position.

Leclerc suffered a decisive setback on the final lap while fighting for a podium position, spinning into the wall and dropping to sixth. This incident denied Ferrari a top-three finish despite both cars scoring points.
The race began with immediate chaos, highlighted by Verstappen’s loss of control from the front row due to rear grip instability under heavy fuel load. This underlined the sensitivity of car balance in early race conditions.
Adding to the complexity, five post-race investigations remain pending, including a potential pit exit infringement by Verstappen. Under FIA regulations, such violations typically result in time penalties, meaning the final classification may still change.
With strategic battles, technical incidents, and regulatory uncertainty, the 2026 Miami Grand Prix stands as one of the most intricate races of the season. Its implications for both drivers’ and constructors’ championships will be critical heading into the next round.
