The Formula 1 race weekend at Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace Interlagos brought mixed emotions for the newly crowned world champion. Kimi Antonelli had to watch a potential victory slip away after suffering a sudden spin caused by baffling car handling issues. Nevertheless, he chose to put his frustration aside to celebrate Mercedes clinching the constructors' world championship.

Starting strongly after Lando Norris secured pole position, the young Italian driver initially controlled the race comfortably on intermediate tires. He built a solid gap before the first round of pit stops as the circuit dried out for slick compounds. However, the momentum shifted dramatically when he suddenly lost the rear of his car at the opening corner at the start of lap 20.
Prior to the spin, Antonelli had already reported to the garage that the car felt unstable and was pulling to one side under acceleration, raising early suspicions of a suspension problem. This peculiar balance issue specifically plagued him in left-hand corners, particularly through the high-speed sections of the Interlagos layout. The sudden loss of grip without any prior warning allowed Norris to breeze past into the lead.

"I am very disappointed with the race. I am very angry to be fair, but I am going to put all this aside for now because the team clinched the title," Antonelli stated following the event. He expressed immense pride in the Brackley-based squad for their relentless hard work and ongoing support throughout the campaign.
"We were on for the win up to that point. Also in the lead, once I was able to get some temperature I was getting into the rhythm. But yeah, the spin came which still is something I need to look at because I don't know why I lost the rear so quickly as well, with no warning, nothing," he explained.
Flat spots sustained during the spin severely hindered his pace mid-race, though a switch to a fresh set of soft tires later on enabled him to improve his lap times and battle hard in the closing stages. The technical crew is now thoroughly investigating the car's geometry to uncover the root cause of the unusual handling.
