A2RL Holds First Autonomous Race in Europe at Imola

Robotic racing is back, and this time the stage has moved to Europe. The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL) successfully held a five-car autonomous race at the Imola circuit last weekend, marking the self-driving series' debut on the continent.

After previously competing only at Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi and Suzuka in Japan, A2RL now takes on the challenge of Imola, one of the most demanding circuits in the world. The top five teams from last November's Abu Dhabi finale were invited to battle over 12 laps.

The A2RL cars are not just ordinary machines. They are fully autonomous race cars heavily adapted from Super Formula, with each team's coding algorithms enabling them to race wheel-to-wheel on track without a human driver.
