Organizers of Rally Sweden have officially revealed the detailed route plan for the upcoming World Rally Championship round. Having submitted the official permit application to the County Administrative Board, the event confirms a challenging total of 18 stages spread across four days of high-speed competition on snow and ice.
Rally Sweden route director Joakim Astrom emphasized that the planning focuses on blending established modern classics around Umea with innovative new additions designed to thrill both competitors and spectators. The primary goal is continuous development while maximizing the unique winter motorsport potential that the Vasterbotten region has to offer.
The competitive action kicks off with a scenic shakedown in central Umea following the riverbank, leading straight into the official opening ceremony at The Red Barn Arena. Fans will immediately witness competitive action as the opening stage takes place at the very same venue on Thursday evening.
Friday's itinerary relies on stages familiar from previous editions, though meticulous alterations to the running order will test the tactical awareness and setup precision of every team. Crews must adapt quickly to shifting grip levels on the frozen Swedish roads.
Saturday's leg starts with the traditional Vannas test before introducing crucial alterations. The popular Sarsjoliden stage will run in the complete opposite direction compared to recent years, while the brand-new Holmbackssjon stage starts at Pengfors Motorstadion and features a spectacular new loop laid directly across the frozen surface of Lake Holmbackssjon.
Sunday introduces another fresh challenge with the debut of the Ristrask stage, combining an entirely new opening section with portions of the former Vastervik route. Running twice, it sets the stage for the dramatic event-closing Power Stage on the longer Umea test.
