The opening round of the national championship held alongside MotoGP at Phillip Island delivered intense Superbike action as Nahlous and Voight split victories across two dramatic races. Starting from eighth on the grid in the opening Saturday encounter, Nahlous charged through the field to claim his maiden Superbike victory, leading home Cam Dunker by 2.843 seconds.

Light rain threatened both encounters, but conditions remained suitable for slick tyres as riders battled fiercely throughout the season opener. In the first race, Nahlous worked his way to the front after Glenn Allerton and Jack Favelle initially set the early pace, with the leading four separated by a mere 0.087 seconds at the end of the opening lap before Nahlous established command.

Though Dunker closed the gap on lap five, the Yamaha rider responded brilliantly, setting a fast lap of 1:33.814 on lap eight on his way to the chequered flag. The milestone triumph arrived in Nahlous’ 29th Superbike race start, marking his seventh career podium in the category and handing the Yamaha Racing Team their first race win in 349 days since Mike Jones’s success at The Bend Motorsport Park.

Voight roared back in race two, leading from the opening corner to secure his seventh ASBK race victory and his fourth at Phillip Island. Behind him, Cru Halliday held off Dunker by just 0.040 seconds to seal a strong one-two finish for Ducati. Meanwhile, post-race penalties saw Favelle disqualified for using unmarked tyres, promoting Allerton and Josh Waters higher up the final classification.

Waters completed a solid sixth-place finish on his DesmoSport Ducati debut while the squad continues development on its latest machinery, with John Lytras, Mike Jones, Morgan McLaren-Wood, and Jacob Roulstone rounding out the top ten. The dramatic Phillip Island opener sets an electrifying tone for the championship battle ahead.
